What does “One cannot NOT communicate” mean? (Watzlawick)
If you observe someone you don't know, you can learn something about them, or at least guess. Your clothes, your look, your facial expression, and your whole appearance leave you with certain impressions and feelings. So this person sends information into the environment with these characteristics. Another example is if someone heard your question but didn't say anything, you'll probably think that person doesn't want to answer the question.
How can an authentic communication style be identified?
If you want to move others, you have to be moved yourself. Authenticity is conveyed through consistency of verbal and non-verbal communication. If the person says they're excited, but there's no such excitement in their voice, eyes, or gestures, you'll doubt their claim.
What does communication style have to do with personality?
Different personality types usually communicate differently. The flow of speech, the intonation, the choice of words are different for extroverts and introverts. Nonetheless, both can be equally successful. It is important that everyone remains true to themselves.
