The focus is on this duality of the French individuals. The high respect for the hierarchy does not prevent them from acting unconventionally. “The Patron” is more of a father figure who is supposed to exude a natural authority. However, too much authority triggers resistance. Appreciation and, if necessary, praise are appropriate. Too much proximity makes the employee insecure. The trick is to find a healthy balance between closeness and distance, as well as trust and control. For meetings, the French are usually always prepared with all the details.
